We assure quality

All of our products are developed, baked and packaged with the utmost care, according to the applicable EU laws and regulations. Our cookies, bars and bites contain as many natural colourants, aromatics and flavourings as possible, and we also make the packaging as sustainable as possible.

Hellema has various quality labels, related to purchasing as well as the assurance of food safety.

Quality certificate

HACCP
Hygiene is an important focus during production, as is monitoring resources and the logistical process. In order to get the best results, we work with the HACCP system. With the HACCP system we can get a clear overview of the risks, and aside from that it offers descriptions of control measures. The government (NVWA) checks if the HACCP system is present and complied with.

IFS and BRCGS
Hellema has obtained the BRCGS and IFS certificate at the highest level through unannounced audits. The British Retail Consortium Global Standard (BRCGS) is an inspection protocol used by British retailers, and includes requirements that suppliers must comply with. The International Food Standard (IFS) is a standard of food safety, established by the German trade association of food stuffs distributors.

The French retail sector organisation has aligned itself with the IFS standard, also referred to as the German/French equivalent of BRCGS Food. All over the world, these are viewed as the standards for the international food industry. With these certificates, Hellema complies with the highest standards in the area of food safety.

Purchasing Quality Labels

Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO)
We purchase sustainable palm oil (RSPO). Through RSPO there are international agreements to strive for a production of palm oil that is fully sustainable.

Rainforest Alliance
Nearly all chocolate and hazelnuts used by Hellema are Rainforest Alliance-certified. This way, we are supporting the sustainable production of cacao.

Responsible cardboard (FSC)
Hellema uses FSC certified cardboard. The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an organisation that is committed to the preservation of forests, and responsible forest management. The cardboard that we use, contributes to the protection of forests.

Fairtrade
In most cases, the chocolate that we use for our cookies has the Fair Trade quality label. This means that the farmers receive a fair price for these raw materials, so that the costs for a sustainable production are covered.
